Vor Ort
Public Art Project Sennestadt

“Vor Ort” is an art project situated in public spaces of Sennestadt, Germany, curated by Thomas Thiel, director of Kunstverein Bielefeld. Eight artists were internationally invited to create site-specific sculptures, installations and interventions – reflecting the urban space and its inhabitants. We took care of the Art Direction and the design of the visual identity.

The typographic key element is derived from structural as well as aesthetic attributes of Sennestadt. We developed a serial system that translates architectural and environmental aspects into various media. Individually designed publications form new motifs that align with the site’s structure.

City by Landscape

We developed a publication made up of six books for Rainer Schmidt Landschaftsarchitekten + Stadtplaner, published by Birkhäuser Verlag. The book project addresses the central themes of Schmidt’s work, documents around 40 selected projects and includes several essays on landscape architecture and urban planning.

City by Landscape

Both the product and graphic design reference the conceptual elements of landscape architecture. They form an autonomous layer of the design creating a neutral platform for the different contents.

In 2012 Künstlerhaus Mousonturm celebrated its reopening with performances by Gob Squad, Mats Staub, Dries Verhoeven, Ontroerend Goed and Sarah Vanhee.

 After the reopening program the institution was exploring and transcending the limitations of knowledge society with shows by Showcase Beat Le Mot, Tine van Aerschot, Forced Entertainment and others. In collaboration with Hort we developed a visual concept for posters, invitations and the printed program.

We were asked to take on the art direction for the
first collaborative album of techno musicians Marc Romboy and Ken Ishii. The product series included a special edition vinyl box set, CD album, single releases and poster.

We worked together with photographer Michael Kohls to develop a photographic visual language that would form the basis of the art direction. Our creative direction references music’s physical medium and the techniques involved in its production.

We developed a concept
for a T-shirt collection for Nike Football. Classic black and white T-shirts are printed on the back with reduced monochrome scans of official player shirts.
 
Together with the photographer Michael Kohls we developed a photo series as a proposal for lookbook and campaign.

Good News
Textbook

We often receive commissions from international clients and our contact with most of them is limited to e-mail conversation only. Based on excerpts from these dialogues we developed a series of installations which appeared over the past few years. A humorous response to virtual business relationships, the work also addresses the ephemeral nature of digital communication. The 16 page textbook contains all the quotes that were previously used.
